On May 9, 2009, while driving home from work, I received news alert via sms informing the death of a pregnant women in Melor, Kelantan. I then forwarded the message to Dato’ Husam whom immediately took a detour from his evening schedule to head straight to the Kota Bharu Hospital’s mortuary.
The body of Saripah Mohd. Noor, 34 lied motionless in the mortuary waiting for post mortem to be perform. She was reported as 4 months pregnant. The husband was there, looking confuse. We were told that the wife left the husband and their five kids few days earlier due to some family problem.
On that fatal day, she borrowed RM 5 from the neighbour in her mother’s village near Tumpat because she missed her kids. She filled RM3 worth of petrol into her motorcycle and plan to buy some ‘cikadis’ for her kids with the balance, not knowing the RM 2 will seal her fate. When her handbag was pulled by the snatch thief on another motorcycle, she lost her balance and was rammed by the car behind her.
Husam and me always discussed about her kids. Today, we managed to pay the orphans of Melawi a visit. Their conditions is very bad. Their granny is taking charge of them. Their house is in very bad shape, so does their granny’s house. We were also being informed that they have been skipping school a lot.
On behalf of Kickdefella readers, YB Husam hand over RM900 collected from our Ramadan Charity Drive. He also made an undisclosed amount of personal contribution and gave RM5,000 each to rebuild both houses.
We hope this can help bring some smile to their face, at least until few days of Syawal. Nevertheless, a long term solution needs to be drafted. They have been living in this condition even before the death of their beloved mother. However, only with the death of the mother, their misery were later discovered. Or may I rephrase it and say, The Almighty had to sacrifice the mother, to get us to notice the suffering of her children.
Melawi is a beach village in the Parliament of Bachok. Former MP of Bachok, Dr. Awang Adek is currently the Deputy Finance Minister while the current MP, Nasharuddin Mat Isa is the Deputy President of PAS.

Do not be romantically swayed by the youthful grandpa Chua Soi Lek. The opposition should pray for the MCA President, Ong Tee Keat to be removed as MCA Party President in the MCA coming EGM and Chua Soi Lek will not just be reinstated by promoted to the position as President.
With Soi Lek as President, the older generation of Malaysians will be glad to know that they still have someone who has proven to be the ambassador of ‘performer’ high on the BN hierarchy, furthermore, Malaysians might have another chance to be exposed to another round of volume of DVD consisting lurid visuals of grandpa’s performance.
Meanwhile, the fly for free Tee Keat will have more time to spare to go around town talking and explaining about the Port Klang Free Area scandal. PKFZ is something that UMNO wants to sweep under the carpet. PKFZ project has by far looks like another cash cow for BN. PKFZ contractors was where the went to in order to squeeze political funds for their respective parties.
It will be very interesting to see Ong Tee Keat joining his buddy, Chua Jui Meng in PKR.
RC2009 Updates
RM6,600 has been spent so far. Due to the rise in good prices and lack of stocks amongst wholesalers, we have decided to give cash instead of goods like the last two years.
Two session has been organized with the first session held in Kubang Kerian on last Saturday afternoon. During the first session, RM3000 were given directly to 30 families amongst the poor and needy in within the Kubang Kerian vicinity. The programme was led by YB Sallahuddin Ayub, MP for Kubang Kerian who help to give away the cash.
The second session was held last night at Ar Raudhah in Kota Bharu. RM3,600 we given to 50 orphans and 22 foreign students from China and Cambodia who are studying in KIAS. It was held during the breaking fast programme handled by Tabung Amanah Tok Kenali. Sdr Khir, the Director of Tok Kenali helped to give away the cash.
A Police Team from the Commercial Crime Department from Bukit Aman Kuala Lumpur will be coming down to Kota Bharu today to take statement from Bariah Ishak.
The statement is scheduled to be taken on Wednesday. Bariah has given her word to give the fullest cooperation to the team. We were told that the statement from Bariah is needed for the Police Department to finalised their investigation against Kickdefella for flying the national flag upside-down last year.
I hope Kickdefella’s reader will remain calm and will not engage into demonising the action by our police force by leaving comments that insult them.
Personally I am looking forward to be reunited with my brother the Investigating Officer, whom I was informed will be heading the team from KL. We have shared some nostalgic moments during last Ramadan when he arrested me and took me to Pudu Prison in KL, before finally I got to check in in Dang Wangi’s Police Lock-up.

Wan sedang menyuap mee sup ke mulutnya. Hand phone di kepit dengan bahu kiri ke telinga. Wan meletakan sudu ke dalam mangkuk dan mengangkat topinya ke atas.
Dia memberi isyarat kepada Mano yang jauh di seberang jalan tanpa menoleh ke belakang.
Kita lihat kepala Wan yang hampir botak itu buat pertama kalinya.
Dari sudut lebih luas, kita melihat Wan membelakangkan kita mengadap warung di tepi jalan. Tangannya mengangkat topi ke udara.

Mano memandang jauh ke arah kanannya di seberang jalan. Dia tersenyum kecil lalu menoleh ke kiri sebelum melintas jalan besar tersebut.

Mano memandang sekitar warung tu. Raut wajahnya tidak menaruh harapan tinggi terhadap keenakan mee sup itu. Sekeliling warung itu bukanlah bersih. Lalat pun ada berterbangan. Pinggan mangkuk di cuci di tepi jalan besar saja.
Pekerja Warung menghulurkan semangkuk Mee Sup ke arah Mano.
Pantas Wan menarik mangkuk itu ke arahnya lalu mula makan semula.
Mano memandang Wan. Dia tidak percaya Wan begitu berselera.
Wan terus menikmati mee sup itu tanpa bertangguh.

Mano menepuk – nepuk bahu Wan. Dia memang ternyata menunjukkan kegembiraannya.

Wan tersandar di kerusi penumpang hadapan sambil melihat ke luar.

Tiga puluh lebih tahun dah. Tak pernah tak da orang. Mesti penuh selalu warung…

Dia tu… Alhamdulliah..
Mano tersenyum. Dia asyik memandang ke arah Wan dengan kusyuk.
Pandangan luar kita lihat Kereta Proton Perdana itu tidak bergerak. Ia mengadap ke arah sebuah rumah banglow di hujung tanah yang agak sebesar satu ekar itu. Rumah itu terletak di hujung tanah dengan jalan tanah di antara banglow itu dan pintu pagarnya yang terletak di hujung satu sama lain.
Di hadapannya terdapat kawasan lapang yang ditumbuhi rumput dan pokok-pokok renek.

Tapi tu bukan sebab kau beli balik rumah ni kan…
Wan diam. Dia memandang jauh ke arah rumah itu.
Kita lihat rumah itu. Ia kosong. Tetapi halaman di jaga elok. Seperti baru dibersihkan semak samun di sekitarnya. Rumputnya baru di potong dan dindingnya baru di cat semula.

Kalau dah 30 tahun laris meniaga, Isa tu patut dah jadi jutawan…

Mano senyum. Dia meraba kocek bajunya. Di situ terletak sekotak malborough lights siang tadi.

Mano tidak menyangka Wan akan pusing ke situ.
Cepat-cepat dia turunkan tangannya dari kocek.

Seronok… Ketagih… yang tinggal habuk.
Seorang perempuan berjalan dengan laju ke arah kereta Perdana itu. Dia adalah CIK YAH. Dia memegang serangkai kunci.
Mano nampak Cik Yah dari cermin pandang belakang. Dia cepat-cepat buka pintu dan keluar.
