Nation in Distress

4 08 2008

Dear proud Malaysians,

No way we are going to raise the white flag, which is the symbol of surrender. We are raising our flag upside down because it is a sign of our nation is in distress.

It is not UMNO or BN who are in distress. UMNO is as bubbly as ever doing what ever their leaders know best for the country and BN as happy as ever playing supporting role to those UMNO leaders.

It is not the opposition parties who are in distress, they never been in a better state than they are now, governing five states and denying a two-third majority for BN in the Dewan Rakyat for the first time.

But it is the nation who is in distress. We are facing economic uncertainty and the citizens are facing all sorts of difficulties facing it. We are losing our competitive edge and we are losing our territories too.

It is sad to see our beloved Jalur Gemilang, the symbol of our Nation and its sovereignty flying upside down. I had anticipated the anger by my fellow countrymen watching our flag being raised upside down. It is internationally accepted that raising the flag upside down is a mark of state of distress. It is never a mark of disrespect.

I hope we can sway all the anger into trying to turn the situation so we can see our Jalur Gemilang flying high in the right way again.

But until we can do something about it, the reality is, our nation is in disarray. Let us not live in hypocrisy. Let us stare at the upside down Jalur Gemilang and let the reality strike us once and for all. If we do not join hand in hand in trying to make the politicians understand how we feel then how on earth can we blame them for saying they are doing what they think is best for us and the nation.

I do not ask you to take your protest to the street, I do not ask you to let your frustration kills the nation, I do not ask you to unleash you anger so it can burn down any chance of unification.

But I beg you not to wait until we have to raise the white flag for our survival.

“Biar Putih Tulang, Jangan Putih Mata”.

Again I repeat, if you have a reason to disagree with the manner the country is heading, then you have a cause.

Raise your flag upside down and let those who can make the different know that this nation is indeed in distress.

However, you may not have the reason to listen to me, so why not you listen to what other fellow Malaysian has to say,

Again I repeat, if you have a reason to disagree with the manner the country is heading, then you have a cause.
This is my causes:

We have to face it. The people have to face it. The reality is sick, but so long Pak Lah The Bangkai is still at helm of Prime Minister behaving like a Primitive Monkey (take a closer look at KJ – see any similarities?) there is no use to hang the flag up-side-down or even hang half-burnt flag either.

Its of no use.

Now that we are celebrating Ghost Festival Month, why not you call the People to beg the Ghost to take away Pak Lah The Bangkai out of PutraJaya to Presinct 20.

Its not a big wish, is it…..

Never listen to political bloggers that have an intention to be noticed and get better employment.
Or listen to bloggers …that can sway from one side …to another…no principles in life art all. These are useless bloggers…also trying to get attention for work.
Listen to political bloggers that do not depend on getting a job…or anyone.
Good example is Rockybru…and “Dr. Hsu’s Forum”
Rocky is famous..now go to Dr. Hsu and be enlightened.

It now appears to me that the problem began with the concept of “Ketuanan Melayu”.

This concept was introduced around the time when Malaysia was working hard to achieve independence from the British.

As we are all aware, the malays were marginalised in the economic sector and perhaps to a large extend the political side as well.

The malay leaders of the time tried to boost the spirit of the malay community by introducing the concept of “Ketuanan Melayu”.

So, the malay leaders at that time used the concept “Ketuanan Melayu” as a rallying point not as a tool to oppress or rid the non-malays, but merely as a cry to prevent the malays from drifting towards oblivion in the era of Malaysia as a country.

While the other concepts ranging from ethnic cleansing to white supremacy are meant to dominate and wipe out the other races, “Ketuanan Melayu” is only meant to help the malays to get to equal footing with the non-malays.

I was thinking, flying the flag upside down is even hard for some literate net-citizens to understand, how will the ordinary folks react? Many don’t accept logic, irregardless of their are education level.

I heard some don’t think our nation is in distress. Well, there are still burmeses and zimbabweans who don’t think their respective country is in distress. Have to agree that life is still dandy for many and that is their yardstick.

I still think hanging the flag upside down is like hanging ourselves upside down too.

Yes, we are a nation in distress, but we have not given up all hopes. To some people, seeing our flag upside down is more stressful.

If you really want to make your point, go hang Paklah’s picture upside down instead, that should send the message crystal clear …

Dear Sheih,

Initially I wanted to join you, but then now I decided that it is not a good idea for my own reasons. I however retained my post, with changes, and I have turned the flag back the right way up. Ramai yang tak akan faham bila kita terbalikkan bendera malaysia, and I feel we should fly at half mast in mourning for the death of our maruah instead.

I agree that things have not changed for the reasons I stated in my post, but I do not think (after some deep thought today), that we should rock the boat too much, lest it terbalik and karam.

I rest the blame on the degil and bodoh sombong Umnocrats and BN rats AND
also the greedy Pakatan which, instead of proving their worth and workability and good governance with the 5 states, are busy polishitting (politicking) for Anwar.

Anwar may have his good intentions despite his cakap besar and penchant for self glory ( i used to admire him, but no more) and we may be so tired of the inept and corrupt government which refuses to change its stripes, but I dare say that I am more afraid that Pakatan will fail us at this moment in time…(for reasons I can’t state openly here)

I however agree that we must CONTINUE TO PUSH HARDER AND STRONGER FOR REFORMS AND CHANGE AND NOT GIVE UP UNTIL THEY LISTEN AND CLEAN UP THEIR ACTS.

I agree with Malaysia being in distress, but doing this, it’s like putting ash in Malaysia’s image.

With this, outsiders would come and disturb our sovereignty; and with the way the world is now, we could be in danger of being colonised, again.

For one, if we want to change something then do it the proper way. Voice out the opinions in a good way, but firmly.

We are not seriously distress.

Orang UMNO akan pertahankan tindakan pemimpinnya walaupun isteri sendiri pak lah nak… so wat? raise the flag downside is a ‘WAY’ to protes! its not mean you not patriotic! the Flag raise by Malaysian power! not the leader power! that the leader was make Malysian Distress!!! menyokong pemimpin biar berpada. if a man like Pak Lah… sorry to say… he full of twisting tongue shitter! how many time he lie to Malaysian? Rakyat perlu buat apa yg mereka boleh utk pertahankan kedaulatan negara dari kerakusan pemimpin UMNO itu! you cannot set your foot inside the parlimen…cannot telecast live your protes and distress… do watever u can… its your right! wat should people afraid not the man made law! its wat your religion brought you… Pak Lah n Najib were religion abandoned person. what he think brought the Islam Hadhari, did he think he’s the 5th Imam after Al-Sufi Shafie, Hambali, Maliki, Ghazali? dare you Pak Lah!!!

We seem to forget that we, the rakyat are the one powerful here. That is what democracy is. But we don’t take action. We just wait, waiting for some other people to do something, or do something stupid, i.e. putting the flag like this or making up illegal gatherings (the un-peaceful ones).

Abdullah can go and die, we as rakyat need to change our mentality first. Think rationally for a long term gain.

Like Tun Mahathir said, there are more than a million UMNO members. They can change UMNO.

The power in a country or a party that runs on democracy comes from the root of it, which means we the rakyat are the source of the power. We can stop it. We just need to be brave.

Anwar could do it. Tun Mahathir could do it. Lim Kit Siang could do it. Why can’t we?

Oh yeah, colonised by our own government/people? Yeah right.

What I think.

Ramai orang Malaysia kat sini macam pentingkan simbol aje.

Kalo you sedih tengok bendera tunggang langgang, tapi tak kisah sangat bila negara kita porak peranda, baik you tanya diri sendiri mana yang lebih besar prioritinya?

Orang Melayu banyak bercakap tentang NIAT.

The flag should be at its normal position. ( yellow represent the colour for royalty and a mark of respect to our King and red signified danger and distress ) You may elaborate that as a mark of love and respect for our King & Country, the population or her peoples is under distress and duress. …….think throughly…ok…

We the Rakyat, should evaluate and determine the kind of Leaders we want for our beloved country, Malaysia

Here are the Top 10 Qualities of a Good Leader

By David Hakala

——————————————————————————–

Leadership can be defined as one’s ability to get others to willingly follow. Every organization needs leaders at every level. Leaders can be found and nurtured if you look for the following character traits:

A leader with vision has a clear, vivid picture of where to go, as well as a firm grasp on what success looks like and how to achieve it. But it’s not enough to have a vision; leaders must also share it and act upon it. Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of General Electric Co., said, “Good leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision and relentlessly drive it to completion.”

A leader must be able to communicate his or her vision in terms that cause followers to buy into it. He or she must communicate clearly and passionately, as passion is contagious.

A good leader must have the discipline to work toward his or her vision single-mindedly, as well as to direct his or her actions and those of the team toward the goal. Action is the mark of a leader. A leader does not suffer “analysis paralysis” but is always doing something in pursuit of the vision, inspiring others to do the same.

Integrity is the integration of outward actions and inner values. A person of integrity is the same on the outside and on the inside. Such an individual can be trusted because he or she never veers from inner values, even when it might be expeditious to do so. A leader must have the trust of followers and therefore must display integrity.

Honest dealings, predictable reactions, well-controlled emotions, and an absence of tantrums and harsh outbursts are all signs of integrity. A leader who is centered in integrity will be more approachable by followers.

Dedication means spending whatever time or energy is necessary to accomplish the task at hand. A leader inspires dedication by example, doing whatever it takes to complete the next step toward the vision. By setting an excellent example, leaders can show followers that there are no nine-to-five jobs on the team, only opportunities to achieve something great.

Magnanimity means giving credit where it is due. A magnanimous leader ensures that credit for successes is spread as widely as possible throughout the organization. Conversely, a good leader takes personal responsibility for failures. This sort of reverse magnanimity helps other people feel good about themselves and draws the team closer together. To spread the fame and take the blame is a hallmark of effective leadership.

Leaders with humility recognize that they are no better or worse than other members of the team. A humble leader is not self-effacing but rather tries to elevate everyone. Leaders with humility also understand that their status does not make them a god. Mahatma Gandhi is a role model for Indian leaders, and he pursued a “follower-centric” leadership role.

Openness means being able to listen to new ideas, even if they do not conform to the usual way of thinking. Good leaders are able to suspend judgment while listening to others’ ideas, as well as accept new ways of doing things that someone else thought of. Openness builds mutual respect and trust between leaders and followers, and it also keeps the team well supplied with new ideas that can further its vision.

Creativity is the ability to think differently, to get outside of the box that constrains solutions. Creativity gives leaders the ability to see things that others have not seen and thus lead followers in new directions. The most important question that a leader can ask is, “What if … ?” Possibly the worst thing a leader can say is, “I know this is a dumb question … ”

Fairness means dealing with others consistently and justly. A leader must check all the facts and hear everyone out before passing judgment. He or she must avoid leaping to conclusions based on incomplete evidence. When people feel they that are being treated fairly, they reward a leader with loyalty and dedication.

Assertiveness is not the same as aggressiveness. Rather, it is the ability to clearly state what one expects so that there will be no misunderstandings. A leader must be assertive to get the desired results. Along with assertiveness comes the responsibility to clearly understand what followers expect from their leader.

Many leaders have difficulty striking the right amount of assertiveness, according to a study in the February 2007 issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, published by the APA (American Psychological Association). It seems that being underassertive or overassertive may be the most common weakness among aspiring leaders.

A sense of humor is vital to relieve tension and boredom, as well as to defuse hostility. Effective leaders know how to use humor to energize followers. Humor is a form of power that provides some control over the work environment. And simply put, humor fosters good camaraderie.

Intrinsic traits such as intelligence, good looks, height and so on are not necessary to become a leader. Anyone can cultivate these leadership qualities.

I will not support this idea, yes, we have problem with the current administration, but at least show some respect for the flag… nothing wrong with the country, just the people!

This is not the best way for us to show our opinion, at least not like this. If the nation in distress, you don’t burn the country, you save the country by changing the current administration!

We are starting to bark for the right reasons with a wrong ways now!

Think thoroughly ok!

No, I will not give my support.

You are fighting a good cause in the wrong way. We should be wise before we act, and in this act – seditious. A few of you needed wikipedia to tell you about the flag interpretation? Then that shows we are at lost people.

Hanging the flag upside down, seemed like the easiest route though you guys claimed to feel sorrow for it but I strongly think it is not the solution.

Don’t ask me, I do not know the solution but ask yourselves by hanging our sacred flag upside down, is this solution?

I support the flying of the Malaysian flag upside down. I am also flying the flag at my home upside down. If this is sedition, then so be it. Lets see what the kangaroo courts can do about it.

Saya SOKONG SAMA LU. Fly the damn flag upside down!!! Save MALAYSIA from the terrorist, the extremist and all the Bull shit liwat story from UMNO. The country is falling apart with rapist targetting little 3 year old girls. However the COPS are not interested in solving those cases they want to chase after innocent Malaysian citizens who are placing an upside down 5kb image of a stupid flag. Thats what is wrong with Malaysia. It has gone from heaven to hell under the corrupted BN. Even the cops are busy stealing Syabu from the police locker instead of catching kiddie rapist and murders.

We are definitely in distress, Shieh…

Distress of UMNO crony.
Distress of Malaysia economic instability.
Distress of oil price uncertainty.
Distress of ISA curbing the freedom of press and individual rights.
Distress of corruption.
Distress of racist sentiment admonition.
Distress of social problems.
Distress of government leadership capability.
Distress of pricing of average goods.
Distress of transportation pricing

That why the Malaysian flag flown upside down is the voice of “rakyat” showing the affliction and suffering that they have undergoing.

Will the government listen?
