All Hell Broke Loose in Kota Bharu

26 11 2007

It is not okey for Malaysian to show their anger towards the Government, but it is okay for BN State Assemblyman to kick YB from PAS.

Worst, it is okey to KICK YB PAS inside the Dewan Negeri. I do not condone such action so I will not post the video in this blog. Nevertheless, for those who wish to see how low things can be for BN, please view the video yourself, at Global Media Channel news portal.

I interviewed the YB himself and he said, he has no regret for dishonouring the Dewan.

yb-paloh.jpg

Kickdefella

YB PALOH

Ya, kerana beliau telah memperkatakan sesuatu yang

kesat kepada saya. Sepatutnya beliau tidak mengatakan sesuatu yang

kesat kepada saya.

WARTAWAN

Spesifik (Apa yang dikatakan)?

YB PALOH

Ahh, okey, okey

YB BN LAIN

Kena masuk dewan, ni usul nak dismiss dia..

For this, YB from PALOH deserves to be nominated for the Kickdefella Award of the year.

Oops They Did it Again

21 11 2007

dsc_0269.jpg

Out of Issues Out they go.

BN Kelantan’s YBs left the State Assembly en mass in search of cheap publicity for the coming General Election.

After finding that they need a miracle to get back in the news, YB for Paloh, plays ignorant and showed unbecoming of YB’s attitude to force the Speaker to read the riot act.

The State Assembly passed the vote by 23-20 to show YB for Paloh the way out before the evening session ends. He was seen chasing his compatriot out after some even made the exit before the culprit himself left his sit.

This is the second time in two consecutive sitting the BN left the State Assembly.

If this still does not prove how they are actually a bunch of useless people, I do not know what else to say.

Perhaps in the coming General Election, the people of Kelantan will put all these BN members in their rightful place and that is outside the Dewan!

Lunch with Annuar Musa

20 11 2007

I saw he came by mere feets away from me. “Ambik gambar saya satu”, he said.

Never for me to imagine it went further than that.

Over lunch, I heard Annuar Musa talked about something I would not blog about while I talked about my nature of work. I heard Annuar Musa talked about the state development while I talked about the destruction of Malaysia by the PM. I heard Annuar Musa talked about the future while I talked about the history.

At the end, I stood up, walked about five steps to the next table, and shook his hand.

That was my lunch with Annuar Musa, three metres apart.

I left while he wonder, who’s that fella?

I am Kickdefella. This is what in Kelantan you call ‘dogil’ kick.

Dogil kick needs a bit of acrobatic movement. You need to twist your knee and back heel the ball while it is in the air. I had my “dogil’ kick today.

10-Eleven, Long Live the King

14 11 2007

10-Eleven successfully marked a peaceful expression of dissatisfaction by the generations that felt they are being oppressed by the ‘Malaysian Style’ Democracy.

Almost 80,000 Malaysian from all walks of life has turn out to show their supports. Hundreds of thousands more, perhaps millions shared the same believe but for one reason or another, choose to keep it close to their heart.

This is a historical moment where Malaysians refreshed their faith in our constitutional Monarch that long being perceived by many as a mere symbol of defender of Malay Supremacy. Some even went further by saying openly that His Royal Highness is just a rubber stamp.

Perhaps, even halves of that participated in 10-Eleven, has rash mindset towards our Monarchy and its functionalities. Even at least one of the political parties under the umbrella of Bersih, has pool of supporters that had never ever shouted ‘Daulat Tuanku’.

But, came 10-Eleven, the Malaysians has come to accept that only the Monarch can lead us towards our long awaited reform. First time since 1969, our King has again become not just the symbol to unify us but actually the only one with the constitutional rights to lead us out of our misery.

There will come a day, sooner or later when our Prime Minister Abdullah Haji Ahmad will has to advised the Agong to dissolves the Parliament. Upon dissolving the Parliament, His Highness will has to appoint a caretaker government whom will run the country with limited power until a new government is form from the fresh mandate of Malaysian voters from the election that should follow within a certain time frame after the Parliament has been dissolved.

In actual fact, the King has the right of not to appoint Abdullah Haji Ahmad to lead the caretaker government. If the King is not satisfied with the way the normal practice by all his predecessors and if he perceived by allowing the same person who is leading one of the political parties to contest in the coming election to lead the caretaker government, will give unfair advantage to that party, then The King is allowed by our constitution to appoint another person to lead the caretaker government.

By doing so, the King will protect his subject and promote the same level of playing field for all the political parties. This action, if taken by the King, will assure no government fund or government machinery to be unfairly used as tools of campaign for a certain political party during the election campaigning period. This will prove to be a monumental decision which will also guarantee that none of the political parties will have the upper hand in deciding the way the election result will swing.

Nevertheless, What if the King thinks that the action above is not enough to promote a fair and clean election? What if the King believes that our system has corrupted to the roots and needing a total reform? What if the King believes that he needs to put the election on hold to give way for total reform?

Perhaps then, the King will need to use some of the ground within the constitution that allows him to form an interim government like what was popularly known as MAGERAN. The term Emergency always rings an unpleasant significant for us. It always sounds chaotic and full of catastrophes. In actual fact, we can live under the Emergency with strong leadership appointed by the King who is also the Head of The Military. The defender of the faith will guide and defend our democratic rights for as long as he believed is best for us. In fact we will not feel any different but maybe much better that way so reform can be thoroughly perform in all sectors.

After such time, and upon being satisfied with the reform, the King will than wish to transfer back the power to appoint the next government to the people. His Highness than will call for an election.

That election shall be the first real election since long ago for Malaysians. True democracy will flourish.

What if we decide for the King to go along this line? What will we lose if we drive our Monarch along this route? To think of it, we only going to lose Abdullah Haji Ahmad (Badawi was not written in his Birth Certificate).

Who Cares?

All the years as UMNO man loyal to Tun Dr Mahathir, I have never been to any demostration or street protest. Finally today, my eyes felt the pain, my mouth sore and my skin was burning. Few times I had to lean down and few times some of the protester help me to get back on my foot. Few times I lost my direction and confuse, and few times, the Police Officer and Personnel help me regain my composure.

As a Malaysian, I believe the only thing that was broken today was my camera lens. Kaput!.

But who cares.

10.11.07 Here We Go

8 11 2007

Excerpt from The Screenplay “Fatwa Pujangga”, 1996.

Seketika kemudian, Pak Samad berjalan merapati para pelajarnya dan duduk bersila di hadapan mereka. Mereka kemudian menjadikan itu satu semi bulatan.

PAK SAMAD

Anda pernah baca novel saya…

Para pelajar itu menjawab sudah…

PAK SAMAD

Tidak enak bukan ?

Para pelajar ketawa.

PAK SAMAD

Zuher memerhati approach Pak Samad.

PAK SAMAD

Biar saya ceritakan kepada anda tentang hidup

saya yang serba tidak menarik dan kekurangan

ini… sudi mendengarnya…

Semua menjawab “SUDI”

PAK SAMAD

Tapi tidak menarik… saya tidak salahkan anda

jika ada yang tertidur nanti… baiklah… anda

kenal Pak Sako ?

Ada yang menjawab kenal.

PAK SAMAD

Anda kenal Ahmad Boestaman…

Begitu juga jawapan mereka.

PAK SAMAD

Pak Aminuddin Baki…

Begitu juga jawapan mereka…

PAK SAMAD

bagus… baiklah… sekarang saya ceritakan tentang

anak muda bernama Samad… orang panggil Mad

Kontot… sebab saya dulu kecil molek…

Para pelajar ketawa.

PAK SAMAD

Pernahkah anda dengar, baca atau lihat karya

Uda Dan Dara…

Para pelajar menjawab pernah….

PAK SAMAD

Tahu pengarangnya…

PAK SAMAD

Baiklah… satu ketika dulu… Mad Kontot ini

ibarat Uda… pernah bertunang dengan gadis

pilihannya di sebuah perkampungan terpinggir…

Waktu itu saya muda belia… mudah jatuh cinta…

gadis itu saya katakan Dara sahaja namanya…

Beberapa purnama sebelum berkahwin… seorang

sebuah dokumen penting bernama Malayan Union,

Tokoh itu bernama Harold MacMichael… beliau

telah mengadap Sultan – Sultan Melayu dan

memaksa mereka menandatangani gagasan tersebut.

Buat pertama kalinya, rakyat Melayu satu bumi

Melayu ini merasa terancam dan terhina dengan

begitu hebat sekali… maka… mereka mula berkumpul

dan berbincang dan berdemonstrasi hingga lahirlah

tokoh – tokoh Melayu yang terkemuka… Uda… waktu

itu, tiba – tiba merasakan bahawa rupa – rupanya

ada perjuangan yang lebih hebat dari perjuangan

membawa Dara ke ranjang…

Para pelajarnya gelak.

PAK SAMAD

Iaitu… perjuangan menentang Malayan Union…

PAK SAMAD

Uda begitu taksub menyaksikan bangsanya

bersatu, Uda begitu gembira, Uda merasakan

bangsanya kini bangsa pencipta sejarah… akibatnya

Uda terabai tanggungjawab untuk pulang dihari

perkahwinannya dan terlepas peluang menikmati

Dara diranjang kerana malam itu Uda tidur kesejukan

di tepi padang itu. Uda pulang seminggu kemudian…

Dara

dinikahkan juga kerana keluarganya takut malu… malu

jika – jika tanggapan masyarakat Dara sudah ditebuk

Uda dan ditinggalkan.

Pak Samad diam seketika. Semua pelajar diam. Zuher turut diam.

PAK SAMAD

Anda fikir Uda kecewa ? Tentu Uda kecewa…

tapi Uda tidak mahu menerima penyesalan… akhirnya

Uda membuat keputusan tinggalkan kampungnya,

Uda merantau ke Singapura dan bekerja dengan

sebuah syarikat akhbar kecil di sana. Uda tidak

menyesal walaupun Uda kecewa. Kata Uda… Dara

sehabis – habisnya, Uda hanya mampu mendapat

Zuher termenung mendengar kata – kata Pak Samad.

  • Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz, Kuala Lumpur 1996

Yes, perhaps this Saturday, we could march together. Perhaps our march will be more meaningful than taking our girl to the movie or sharing fast food lunch with our kids. Perhaps, we could meet and shake hands.

Perhaps, we could put our hand together to write a new chapter in the history that those long after us shall be able to read and be proud of what they read.

Perhaps.

Powerless yet Powerful

6 11 2007

Thousands apologies for not being able to update this blog for the last few days.

The reason was, my streamyx connection was down the past three days. Let me make up by telling you a tale that I captured during my journey into the 14 territories in Southern Thailand.

Our journey began in Sungai Golok (Kolok as Thai claim it). Our group consisted of Haji Hasim, former State Assemblyman, Haji Zaidi of Agarwood Industry (Kelantan) Sdn Bhd and Me.

In Yala, our group were joined by our Thai friends, Mr Ahamad Chapakiya and Mr. Razak or his Thai name is Somsark as that was the name given by the Thai registration officer.

On the first day, we headed towards Kembeng and Teluk Hala, two kampongs that are in the centre of the separatist movement in Southern Thai. We were received by brother Mang, a scholar in Performing Arts. The moment I venture into his place, my mind are telling me, that the Thai Malays, despites of all the armoured cars, barricades and roadblocks and constant helicopter flying low altitude over their head, they are actually in more than one way, are more merdeka than we, the Malaysian Malay.

Mang has built his own museum will various kind of artefacts and endless collection of the Kelantanese Keris.

keris-collection.jpg

Mang’s Keris Collection

mangs-artefacts.jpg

Mang’s Artefacts

Later, Mang brought us to Teluk Hala to meet Abang Awang. Abang Awang is a popular figure there as he has solely taken the task of developing the economy of the Kampong’s single mother, the poor and the orphans. Unfortunately, when we arrived at Abang Awang’s deteriorated pondok, we were informed that his is in Bangkok, fighting to force the Thai education ministry to install the Local Malay Language into the school syllabus.

As we travelled further north, we stop for our Friday prayer in Khwandhon. At first, curious eyes staring at me as I gun myself with my Nikon. But once I introduced myself as a Kelantanese, I was barraged with praises upon praises. There were always two names being mention, when we talked about Malaysia, the name Tun Mahathir Mohamed will always pop up somewhere and when we talked about Kelantan, praises for the Tuan Guru Dato’ Nik Abdul Aziz come streaming.

Nevertheless, I cannot but felt ashamed. They looked very highly on us but despite all that they have to go through, their mindset is distance ahead of us.

About twenty metres from the Khwandhon Mosque, we were welcome by Mr. Ahmed (Thai name Sawang) Longsman into his Mini Library which is self-finance by none other than Mr. Longsman himself. After retiring from the civil service, Mr. Longsman committed himself into this Mini Library, with an international standard cataloguing system. I promised Mr. Longsman to do my part by putting his effort in this blog and he much welcomes any donation in term of books for this Library.

Ilyas the Crab Master

Our second day journey ends in Krabi where Brother Ilyas has been eagerly waiting to bring us to visit his modest crab confinement. Ilyas has been breeding Mangrove Crab for a while now. The once dead swampy Mangrove area is now Ilyas’s Heaven.

The Roshin Journey

On the third day, our journey took us the Thai-Myanmar border. As we were staring at the river that separated the two countries, Haji Hasim took us back down the memory lane.

(L-R) Chapakiya, Haji Zaidi and Somsark

After PAS was squeezed out of Barisan Nasional and later lost Kelantan in 1978, many of leadership including Haji Hasim himself lost not just the ruling power but also most of them whom had resign from their various positions to fight for PAS were than jobless.

As we headed towards Ranong, I was told about the tale of 12 children from what was once, Burma. One separatist leader by the name of Zaid has contacted some of the PAS members in Kelantan requesting for them to help adopted the Burmese refugees. Haji Hasim and few others, has taken 12 children and so did others. The future of these homeless children has turn into a crusade.

Upon arriving in Kelantan, these children were given proper education and shelter at the various religious schools own by PAS leadership and sympathiser. Although jobless, these politicians managed not just finance those children but also rebuilt the live that both have lost.

Zaid, meanwhile were granted political asylum in the United Kingdom where he rebuilt his live and later passed-away there.

We decided to make a brief stop at Ranong to visit two of the twelves children that Haji Hasim and his comrades has helped to prepared them to make their re-entry into the civilise world.

It was momentous to be able to see, Sharifah, who is now married and his brother Sattar had successfully adopted their live in Ranong with the similar values taught to them, almost 20 years ago. They had fruitfully managed to run their own noodles shop in the town.
