Sheih on Sheih: Lunch With Kidos

29 04 2007

It is rather confusing working on a Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.

After celebrating Man U’s championship performance last night, Rifqi and I woke up early today to rush to the Pasar Borong in Selayang.

Then I am off for a meeting before rushing back to cook lunch for the kidos. I know they have been missing my cooking and Al have been asking for the Ketam Masak Lemak Cili Api.

Yes my beloved bro Husamasam, this lunch is courtesy of the rakyat of Kelantan. I hope nothing controversial about it. If I got your number, I would have called you to join me for lunch. So why not expose yourself and we can be friends. Papa Monty can offer you some cigar too.

Well, now I am off for another meeting!

These are the highlights on Malaysia Today on Lojing Highlands.

1) Some of the approvals were done prior to 1990 when the state was still under the rule of Umno.

2) The Raja Perempuan Kelantan, the Kelantan Sultan’s consort, heads the committee as the advisor.

3) The Kelantan State Secretary chairs the committee.

4) All the heads of the federal ministries sit in the committee.

5) The state head of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, which comes under Azmi Khalid, tables the reports at the committee meetings.

6) Meetings are also called and chaired by Sazmi Bin Miah at the Parliamentary Secretary’s office.

7) All the above means that the federal government, in particular the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, which comes under Azmi Khalid, is fully aware of what is going on and is in full control of developments in the Lojing Highlands.

Sheih on Sheih: Quality time with kidos

Isu Lojing : Berguru Kepalang Ajal

I missed Rifqi’s dentist appointment this morning. Damn! My communicator screws me up. It supposed to remind me of the appointment but perhaps, it was my mistake for trusting the artificial intelligent more than my own self. At the end of the day, there is nothing intelligent about any of the A.I, if we do not program it intelligently.

We then went to Atria in Damansara Jaya to repair my kidos PS2. Only to realise that when we reached there, we do not bring the PS2. Nevertheless, Al, Rifqi, Ryan, Qistina and me managed to have our favourite Hainanese Chicken Rice there.

Earlier in the morning, Qistina damaged my new Digital Camera which my wife bought me last week. It is now totally out of service. In the evening, my football session with Rifqi and the rest of the kids here stopped prematurely due to heavy rain and lightning.

This is surely one quality weekend. Ha ha ha.

Tonight we are going to have our usual Saturday night ritual in Hartamas Square. Two weeks ago, while having our dinner there, we were approached by one beautiful lady wearing red t-shirt, asking graciously if I am ‘the Kickdefella’. I was so occupied attending to the kidos to even say anything to her accept for admitting, ‘yes, I am the kickdefella’. She was so surprised to see me organizing the food for my three sons that even she became speechless. Deep inside, I should have gone a step further by asking her name, at least. Forgive me my lady! However, thank you for kicking with me.

Meanwhile, I have been busy asking around for any suitable candidates to fill 2 positions in Kuala Lumpur. While one position is for non-Muslim and the other for a Muslim, both must possessed at least basic IT and PR knowledge, good communications and writing skills in English and Bahasa Melayu any other language like Arab and Mandarin will be a bonus (Not compulsary). These two positions are only for Male candidates. Any takers? Email me at kickdefella@yahoo.com.

Signing off from Kuala Lumpur.

Email to Kang Chai Kee: How I Wish I Have Lots of Money

19 04 2007

Dearest Chai Kee,

Tonight I am blogging in my house in KL. I arrived around seven this evening.  I actually felt sad leaving Kelantan after such a memorable day. Nevertheless, I am so happy to be able to hug my kidos again.

This afternoon I followed YB Dato’ Husam to Kampong Cina one more time and he brought with him a special give to brother Kang Bee Chuan. I felt so happy watching brother Bee Chuan smiling again. How I wish I have lots of money and can make everybody smile.

Husam is not a rich man. But he is one lucky fella. His is in power and have the opportunity to serve the people. To have power is a good alternative to having lots of money. Yet, most people want to have both. They want money to keep them in power. They want power because they want to make lots of money.

As for now, I am wondering, how many simple citizens of Malaysia are smiling with the purchase of Airbus Corporate Jet, The Cobra Sultan, The Patrick’s wife resident for Pak Lah in Perth and The Monsoon Cup?

I know my kids did not smile with all those stuff above. I know I am not smiling too.

However what happen in Kampong Cina today, surely make a lot of people smile.

I know you are smiling too.

Sheih on Sheih: Professionalism of the Federal Government

19 04 2007

this-is-the-letter.jpg

Husam showing the letter to the press. Behind wearing kopiah putih is YB Dato’ Hj. Ahmad B. Hj. Yakob, Deputy Chief Minister of Kelantan.

This news may never see the light in the mainstream media.

First, a parliamentary Secretary for Federal Ministry sent sms (short message system) to Kelantan’s state leaders requesting them to take a helicopter to Lojing which was already being prepared by someone.

Second, a Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Ministry send sms(es) to Senior State Officer asking for all sort of letters, documents and records to be sent to him.

Even as a person who hated protocol and paperwork, I find this action as arrogant and absurd.

The state’s officers are under a lot of stress by the action of requesting things without using proper channel.

Welcome the Kelantan!

Email to Kang Chai Kee: From the Digital World to the Ghetto

18 04 2007

Dear Chai Kee,

Before I left Kuala Lumpur, I was so lucky to have the chance to spend some quality time with Brother Wee Choong Keong, former MP of Bukit Bintang. We Dikir Barat together and sharing a lot of jokes too. Wajib Kapir Tobat I am not lying!

Just like you, he spent his growing years in Kampong Cina. Today, I managed to pay a visit there. Kampong Cina is under the Kijang Constituent and it is the poorest area under the assemblyman Dato’ Husam Musa.

After office, Husam took a detour that leads us to Pasar Kampong Cina. Knowing that I am a good chef, he knows that I would not want to miss watching all the fresh seafood on sale.

Ironically in the afternoon Husam launched the E Payment and E Complain for the state government.  In his speech, He announced that Kelantan is heading towards becoming a fully digital state. According to Husam, Kelantan is the first state to have its own Animation School which was launched in December last year. As for today, a state agency named Darul Digital is overseeing the development of wireless internet access through out Kelantan.

In his speech, Husam also took a swiped at the federal government for trying to impose restriction on bloggers as he said, “Dunia teknologi tanpa batasan tidak harus menimbulkan prasangka kepada kerajaan terhadap saluran internet. Penulisan di internet tidak perlu di bendung”.

Nevertheless, Husam said writers (including bloggers), “Perlu ada integriti dan berpegang kepada prinsip itu”.

engaging-the-press.jpg

We arrived at Pasar Kampong Cina at about five thirty. I used to remember the market was by the roadside and it was very dirty and smelly. The state government has developed the market and built basic infrastructures for the traders.

After doing his groceries, his Mercedes stopped by the roadside upon seeing three young boys walking with some tools towards an abandon house. The boys told Husam that they were planning to rebuild a house for an old lady there. Husam followed them into the village. It is similar to the squatters area in KL. This is about five kilometer from the town centre.

Upon watching the sad condition of the house, Husam went to meet the old lady. He requested one of the boys to take a form from the Mercedes and fill it for the old lady. Immediately Husam gave the lady RM1, 500.00 cash. Husam later told me that every assemblyman was given RM18, 000 per year to help the old and needy people in their constituents. Each assemblyman was also given RM56, 000 for them to help build shelters for the needy. This money is part of the state efforts to provide fast and temporary solution to the people while they waited for the fund from the Welfare department.

I was so touched to see the old lady was smiling and thanking Husam over and over again. The last time I remember watching the similar incident was when I was working with Datin Tiara Jacquelina and followed Dato’ Effendi Norwawi who was the Agriculture Minister in 2001. The different is that, Dato’ Effendi was on official visit to Kedah and our entourage includes all the television newsman and reporters from the mainstream media.

husam-with-the-kampong-folks.jpg

husam-with-cambodian-girls.jpg

While I was busy snapping photos of the area, I saw Husam when inside one of the old house and suddenly Kabbboooom! My immediate thought was the wood flooring had collapse upon talking the weight of the six footer and 85 plus kilos assemblyman. I ran towards the house and take a peep below, in case Husam already landed on the ground. However Husam wasn’t there.

I ran to the door and saw Husam was laughing. The chair that his sat on has collapsed into pieces. Husam has damaged the chair. Perhaps it’s time for him to go on crash diet!

Dearest Chai Kee,

Poverty is an universal problem. Should we forget about spending millions making the state wireless and concentrate on eradicating poverty? Should we create more jobs opportunity and cancelled all the e payment and e complaint projects which means using less personnel? Should we do this and should we do that?

Or perhaps, we should allow for more land clearing and give this poor people land to grow vegetables?

Well, as for me, while we are trying to eradicate poverty, there’s some type of poverty that we have to live with. There is no way we can force poverty out of seventy years old lady except by continuing to support her.

This got nothing to do with being a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu or being PAS, UMNO or DAP. This is about being human and behaving like one.

I would rather sacrifice few thousand acres of land in Lojing and grow vegetables there if that can at least ease some of the poverty problem we are facing. How many millions of acres have we sacrificed to create Feldas etc, for the same purpose? Let’s put politic aside and let’s stop behaving like environmentalist for a moment. Let us be human.

As for now, we rely on giving basic education for the young one so they will have a better chance in the future. Will the practice works for the future when everyone, almost everyone have at least a first degree? It didn’t worked for Bangladesh and Indonesia, right?

As for now, I would rather stare at the river while waiting for my bro Sallahudin to return to Kubang Kerian and take me for another tour with the YB.

Email to Kang Chai Kee: The New Kelantan

16 04 2007

Dearest Chai Kee,

What can I say, this city never sleeps.

Last night, Bro Jasny brought me to have roti bakar at Kampong Sireh. The bread toasted on charcoal and served with planta and kaya. There must be about hundred patrons waiting for the delicacy. You must have something similar to that in Taipei. Nevertheless, it is not the toasted bread that allured me but the manner all the small businesses has mushroomed over the years.

I have to say, Kota Bharu has change a lot compared to those days went I were trying to seduce you to meet me in Suntoo.

I hardly recognised some parts of Kota Bharu. Plenty of office buildings everywhere and trust me if I say there is more than ten supermarkets and hypermarkets within the 20km radius.  It was almost midnight when Bro Jasny brought me to Wakaf Che Yeh. I was surprised to see hundreds of stall selling almost anything under the sun. The place is an open air night market and they call it Pasar Borong Wakaf Che Yeh. The businesses start operating after dusk and cease only in wee hours. It is almost on the same model and scale of the Uptown market in Damansara Utama which has now moved to somewhere towards Damansara Perdana (?).

My conclusion is the Kelantan Government has successfully adopting the right economic model that helped the economy of the state to generate more incomes for the people. When you see that people choose to go out for supper and shopping until late night rather than having the comfort of dreaming on bed, it can only mean this, they have the money!

While I am still waiting for Pak Lah to show me the money, the Kelantanese are enjoying theirs. Where are all this money came from? We all know that the state account is shrinking on daily basis due to lots of financial discriminations by the federal government. We all know that the federal development fund for the state are being banked straight into UMNO Kelantan’s account and the state government can only dream of such money to be passed to them at later stage. We all know that Pak Lah’s advisors will wake that sleepy head up every time foreign funders willing to invest in Kelantan. Pak Lah then will be forced by their advisor to stop the fund from reaching Kelantan in interest of the UMNO future in the state. So, where is this money coming from?

We all know that Kelantan Government is not allowed to enter into the lucrative business of logging even though their counterparts in other 12 states are laughing all the way to the bank via these logging things. One timber in Kelantan worth tens of pages and airtime hours of bashing by the UMNOs. As a communication man, I would love to advise the state to fell more tress so we will have more publicity in Kali-stream medias and Mediaprima-stream tvs. Good publicity or bad publicity doesn’t matter. Yup, it is not important whether the cat is white or black, what matter is it catches the tikus!

For that, we would love to thanks Sazmi the Back-Stabber-Annuar-Arse Miah for opening his big mouth. Unfortunately I do not have my Adobe Photoshop to honour his contribution with a well deserved poster. Nevertheless I will have it ready before the election. Rest assured.Dearest Chai Kee,

I hate to say this because I do not want to be misunderstood as kissing somebody’s end. But it is a matter of fact that the economic model that managed to overcome years of failure is shouldered by someone. Somebody is responsible for this success.

Husam Musa is the chairman for the Public Administration, Economic Planning, Finance and Social Development committee. It is crystal clear that this success due to some awakening moments and ideas within the committee that he headed for the last three years. It cannot be coincidence that all this positive development only made it ways during the last two years.

My Chai Kee,

As bro Jasny was driving me home, the radio played Isabella. The memory of you and me on the Sultan Ismail College somewhere in April 1989 suddenly creeps and lingers in my mind.

It was midnight and Mat Min, Johar and me were busy putting our finishing touched on our Pintu Gerbang for the sports day. I took a brief stare at you and I saw you were busy talking to Che Yo (short form for buaya), the playboy of Jalan Telipot. How I wished it was me whom enjoying the moment under the full moon with you.

Suddenly, the song Isabella just echoed from a distance mini-compo. That moment lingers until today.

Last night, as I breathe the same air, under the same moon, the same song, again, just brought me closed to the unfinished chapter about us.

Now I realized, no matter how Kelantan has changed, there is something that will never change. It will never change. Never. Trust me.

Sheih on Sheih: Email from the Digital Islamic City

15 04 2007

Dearest Chai Kee,

Landed at Sultan Ismail Petra’s Airport around eight last night. Bro Jasny was already there waiting to see me. He is a young ambitious man. He drove me for our dinner in Pengkalan Chepa.

It is so strange that I found a lot of building unseen before mushrooming in Pengkalan Chepa. The last time I was in Kelantan was a fortnight ago. Perhaps I was too busy bashing Annuar Musa while passing that road.

But, yes Pengkalan Chepa is no more Pengkalan Chepa that I used to remember. Where me and my schoolmate from Sains Kelantan used to terrorize before.

Just one problem here, everybody wanted to talk politics with me. Hey! I am no politician. I have no interest in politics. I am a kampong boy having my great time coming back to my home town. Please do not kill me yet. At least the UMNO goons do spare me.

By the way, I am typing this posting at a hotspot zone in Kota Bharu. Digital era really has had its fair share on the state. This is going to be the wireless city or at least a part of it. I will make this city the wireless city and call it The Digital Islamic City.

Remember the old Chinese restaurant near the Telipot junction? I had my breakfast there. Hope to drop by at Sultan Ismail College one of this day because my brother Siva from United State wanted me to search to Cikgu Yusuf for him? Remember Cikgu Yusuf? He is our sport teacher. He drove that rugged four-wheeler. He once drove your to the stadium for your 100 Meter sprint at the MSSK.

My wife bought me a brand new digital camera so I can take as many photographs of Kota Bharu as I could and try to persuade her to change her heart. Big Dog had openly betting that I am going to get a second wife here and you know, Al and Rifqi had started singing the Indonesia song, Ratapan Si Anak Tiri from one of the Indonesian soap. Surely, some amazing will happens but not in that direction.

Monsterball and Shar 101 are worried of how this separation will affects the young kidos of mine, and my celebrity wife.  Well, we have faced a lot of challenge before and we survived.

Let us leave that issue for our next email. As for now, this is Sheih and I am signing off from the Digital Islamic City.

Dear Rocky,

Thank you for all your support for showing me the light at the end of the tunnel. Now, I have reached the end of the tunnel and about to make my detour to the unfamiliar territory.

Last night I received this sms from bro Bakaq of Penarik Beca, the terrain there is not that smooth!. He has arranged for Wan Joe of Perakan.net to help build my networking there.

It looks like fellowship of the net that keeping me alive in KL will continue in KB. Bro Jasny, a future blogger has offered to pick me at the airport tonight. We haven’t met before this, but come to know each other through my blog.

Please send my regards to all bloggers and do take care of my Papa Monsterball for me. Thank you for the farewell party which you, Big Dog, I Am A Malaysian, Jalan Sudin, Zorro, A Voice, Mat Salo and all had organized.

I will work on building a networking of Bloggers and Webmasters in Kelantan as a gift to All Blogs.

Regards,

Sheih
